With the aim of establishing in the village what has become a real educative society for the gangways between the formal education system and the non formal system, Gambastenga school has opened a centre for literacy training and intensive training for development (AFI.D) for young people between 9 and 16 years who had not been sent to school or had left early, and a literacy training centre for adults. This is an opportunity for all village stakeholders to leave the ranks of the illiterate.
The school is connected to social education networks: it is a member of the Association for Pedagogical and Intercultural discussions (AREPI). This is an association that brings together the teachers of the bilingual primary schools in Burkina Faso and that aims among other things at capacity building, sharing experiences, promotion of bilingual education. Its partners include the Haute Ecole Pédagogique (HEP) in Lausanne, Switzerland and the KIBARE Burkina Association in Switzerland.
- Every child to raises a chicken at home: At the end of a year, the produce from keeping this chicken can cover the student’s school expenses.
- Reconciliation with the expectations and social and cultural realities of their society: learning local values, positive cultural norms and practices which require their active participation.
